"on a small island, in a big island" (2022) is a short film that takes a poetic look into a family history of coming and going. the film centers around a comprehensive archive of film and slides that van Bochove's grandfather amassed throughout his life. these captured moments showcase a life lived in constant movement: from Suriname to the Netherlands and finally to Curacao. through glimpses and intimate details, feelings regarding the inheritance of movement and longing become tangible.
